FALL SEMESTER 2024 REGISTRATION OPEN AND STUDENT ORIENTATION - SEPTEMBER 19TH @ 7PM
Antioch School of Urban Ministry (ASUM) was founded in 1981 by the late Dr. Gerald J. Kaufman, under the auspices of Love Gospel Assembly (Bronx, New York). Dr. Kaufman was founder and Bishop of this thriving inner-city church for 27 years. The idea for a school matured in his mind under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit as he saw the neglect and deterioration of the urban centers of this country and the great spiritual need of those living in the inner cities. In his travels, Bishop noted that our bible schools and theological seminaries were not training future ministers for urban ministry. Bishop met this challenge by establishing Antioch School of Urban Ministry in the Bronx.
Our school began as Logos Bible School and became Antioch in April of 1992 because that name best described our inner city school and the vision of our church (Acts 13:1).
Our school is composed of a multiplicity of traditions and cultures. We are Black, Hispanic, African, White, and Asian. We thank God for this diversity of race, class, and culture which challenges us as we seek to live out the reality that in Christ “there is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female,” (Galatians 3:28).
The school has grown steadily in prominence. We have an enrollment of many outstanding gifted, consecrated men and women from a variety of denominations who come in preparation for the service of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our faculty members are from diverse backgrounds with a common commitment to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, His authoritative Word, and the ministry of believers. Each instructor is selected on the basis of advanced training and/or practical expertise in his or her area.
God has placed us in this city, at this time, with this ministry to witness to the fact that “the dividing walls of hostility,” (Ephesians 2:14) which are the sources of so much pain, suffering and oppression of those living in the inner cities are torn down. Our task is to witness to that reality and to provide our students with educational programs that sensitize them to the needs of the poor and oppressed in the inner cities. It is our desire that you would join in the task of continuing to bring down walls which still exist.
